What’s at stake
Western Kentucky looks to win bowl amusements in four back to back seasons out of the blue. Hilltoppers are one of eight FBS groups – alongside Clemson, Georgia, Louisiana Tech, Stanford, Utah, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin – with wins each of the previous three seasons. Georgia State is in the Cure Bowl for the second time in three seasons, going for the main postseason win the Panthers’ eight-year history.
Hilltoppers QB Mike White and WKU’s intense passing assault against a Panthers barrier that is permitted 391 yards for every diversion – 242 passing and 149 hurrying. White has tossed for 300 or more yards in seven back to back recreations and positions third broadly passing proficiency and yards per culmination.
Players to watch
Georgia State: WR Penny Hart drove the Sun Belt Conference in accepting with 73 gets for 1,094 yards and eight touchdowns. The 5-foot-8 sophomore has 152 gatherings for 2,254 yards and 17 TDs in only 26 vocation diversions. QB Conner Manning is an exchange from Utah, who’s tossed for 5,554 yards and 29 TDs in 21 recreations for the Panthers. He’s finished 63.7 percent of his passes while tossing for 13 TDs versus seven block attempts this year.
Western Kentucky: White has tossed for 3,826 yards, 24 TDs and seven block attempts. The Hilltoppers have five players – WRs Nacarius Fant (67), Cameron Echols-Luper (42), Lucky Jackson (37) and Quin Jernighan (34), or more TE Deon Yelder (47) – with no less than 34 gets. RB D’Andre Ferby is the group’s driving rusher with 362 yards and three TDs.
