Eidos-Montr? al revised its eye-sight statement today indicating the studio will shift it is focus to online video gaming. Studio head David Anfossi said a higher “emphasis” would be located on producing “online experiences” in its titles in the years ahead.
The new direction is going to require a lttle bit of reorganization, rearrangement, reshuffling. Director of online technology S? bastien Bessette said they can have to make some changes to the Dawn engine (used in Mankind Divided) to provide it online functionality.
“We’re also structuring the DAWN engine, our proprietary technology, to interface with modern online solutions, which gives all of us the ability to take good thing about existing technologies, very well said Bessette.
The facility is looking to employ some new talent to help usher in the arriving changes as well.
“Through the inherent interactivity of online play, our univers will have the chance to thrive both now and forward6171. To achieve this, we are building the teams and tools able to support our ambitions. ”
Currently, Eidos-Montr? al is looking to use a lead programmer for multiplayer, a senior gameplay programmer and an elderly online programmer. It also has several other development positions as well as many positions consist of departments on its careers page.
Deus Ex: Human beings Divided introduced cosmetics initially in the history of the franchise. It has apparently done well enough that Eidos as well as its parent or guardian company, Square Enix, are looking to expand it further into the microtransactional model. We would even be seeing loot boxes in future games from the studio.
It is too early to share with how big the shift to online gaming will be. Ideally, it does not go the way of Rock-star and GTA V. Single-player activities are what made Eidos-Montr? al famous. Properties with solo protagonists like Burial place Raider, Deus Ex and Thief are what enthusiasts of the studio want and expect.
We already know that another Deus Ex game has been mentioned. It appears that we can expect it to have some type of online aspect — most likely a multiplayer method and all that comes with it. As long as the developers will get a balance between the multiplayer experience and the single-player campaign, things should go well. If they get it wrong though, they risk losing a significant portion with their fan base.
